General Update
Greetings from the PaTH Network!
2019 has brought some exciting changes to PaTH, including the addition of two new sites to the network – the Ohio State University and the University of Michigan. The PaTH team is excited to reconfigure into a substantial regional presence, with collaborators now including Geisinger Health System, Johns Hopkins University, Johns Hopkins Health System, Penn State College of Medicine, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Temple Health System, Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, the University of Pittsburgh, UPMC and UPMC Health Plan, the Ohio State University, the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, University of Michigan, and Michigan Medicine. PaTH has also successfully transitioned into the newest phase of PCORnet, as one of 9 networks nationally that were awarded renewal funds through the People-Centered Research Foundation.
In recent months, two PCORnet studies involving PaTH have funded: Prevention of Fractures in Patients with Parkinson's Disease (PI: S. Cummings, at UCSF: Geisinger and U. Pittsburgh collaborating) and Operationalizing Patient-Reported Outcomes measurement with electronic health records in patients with heart failure (PI: J. Bachman at Vanderbilt: U. Pittsburgh collaborating). Additional PaTH proposals now pending review are led out of Johns Hopkins, Penn State and the University of Pittsburgh and and PaTH sites have participated in national proposals in review related to blood pressure and lipid management. We are also excited to see results of PaTH/PCORnet studies begin to emerge and look forward to their impact on patient care.
Here are a few highlights from PaTH research:
Clearly, the PaTH teams are busy. Read on for more details! In an effort to keep you better informed, we will be changing our approach to newsletters in the future, with brief monthly updates on a few timely topics. They will be delivered via email and posted to the PaTH website. We welcome feedback.
As always – PaTH aims to address questions and concerns that matter most to the communities we serve in order to make more informed health decisions.
